(Yardley, PA, March 5, 2024) It’s often said that the kitchen is the heart of the home. And for this modern masterpiece designed by Mark W. Daniels, AIA, it’s quite literally the case. This stunning yet streamlined kitchen created by designer Matthew D. Rao of RAO Design Studio, Inc. in Atlanta, is the nucleus from which all other parts of the home emanate. The home, which draws inspiration from early modernism all the way through mid-century modernism, was a highlight of Modernism Week, the annual Palm Springs festival which took place February 15–25.

A new interpretation of the ergonomic recessed grip, the intelligent handle-free design features LED lighting strips integrated into the sophisticated contours of the grip channel. The subtle effect of the channel lights makes the delicately proportioned six-millimeter ceramic countertop appear to weightlessly float in midair. A sculpture made of space and light, SLX brings tactile properties to the forefront with adjustable LED lights, making SLX equal parts interactive art and efficient kitchen design.

Henkes previously helmed the premium kitchen cabinetry manufacturer from 2008 to 2017, leading the company to record sales growth. Prior to returning to SieMatic last fall, Henkes was consultant to private equity and had served as president & CEO of another well-known German cabinet brand. His extensive industry experience, combined with his drive for innovation and ability to infuse his team with passion positions Henkes as the ideal leader for taking SieMatic USA to the next level.
